Touching the Wild
A writer has a spiritual encounter with a lone mule deer and dedicates 7 years of studying them and grows in trust with them and they him. He meets a curious doe and names her RaggedyAnn and after 2 years she finally comes closer and makes a decision he is safe to approach and comes within inches of his face. He touches her and they are both changed. He comes to realize she is the leader of this large herd and not by leading by dominance but by being gentle.
